Dr. Joseph Bryan

Dr. J. Shepard Bryan is a retina specialist and board-certified ophthalmologist who joined Associated Retina Consultants in 1995. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix and has been recognized by AZ Top Doctor Magazine and Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors in 2021 and 2023.

At Associated Retina Consultants, Dr. Bryan has been a principal investigator in numerous clinical trials focused on advancing treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disease. His commitment to ophthalmology has led to a published book chapter and articles in several respected journals. Outside of his professional work, Dr. Bryan enjoys an active life with his wife and four children, and the family shares a passion for adventure travel including surfing, snowboarding, and skiing.
