About Me
Dr. Mathew MacCumber is a nationally recognized retina specialist with expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal disease. He provides comprehensive care for conditions affecting the retina and vitreous, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, and macular hole. Dr. MacCumber is dedicated to advancing patient care through clinical research and has served as a principal investigator in numerous multicenter clinical trials.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. MacCumber holds academic positions at Rush University Medical Center, where he serves as Professor and Director of Research for the Department of Ophthalmology. He is also the Director of Clinical Research at Illinois Retina Associates. He sees patients at multiple locations, including Oak Park, Rush University Medical Center, and Lincoln Park offices. Dr. MacCumber is actively involved in professional organizations and has contributed to the field through extensive research and education.
