About Me
Prof. Marco Mura is a vitreoretinal surgeon with more than two decades of international experience treating complex retinal disease. Currently, he holds the position of Full Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Ferrara and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Arcispedale Sant’Anna of Ferrara. A talented ocular microsurgeon, he specializes in conditions such as retinal detachment, macular holes, and age-related macular degeneration.
He completed a retina fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam. His career includes leadership and faculty roles at prestigious institutions in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, including the University of Amsterdam, King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, and the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.
Prof. Mura is a fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, EURETINA, and the Società Italiana di Scienze Oftalmologiche. Fluent in Italian, English, and Dutch, he is known for his patient-centered approach, taking time to explain each step of treatment and developing customized plans to help patients feel informed and confident.
