About Me
Dr. Loka Thangamathesvaran is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist who completed her ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. She brings a strong academic background, having graduated at the top of her medical school class and being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society.
Her clinical research in diabetic retinopathy, intravitreal injections, and sickle cell retinopathy has been published in leading journals and presented at national conferences. This dedication to advancing retinal care is matched by her commitment to each patient, earning her recognition through the Morton and Myrna Goldberg Prize and the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship.
Dr. Thangamathesvaran believes in providing compassionate, detailed care tailored to each individual. She works closely with patients to help them understand their retinal conditions and collaborates with them to create a holistic management plan.
