About Me
Dr. Lisa Olmos de Koo is a Professor of Ophthalmology, Director of the Retina Division, and Director of Fellowship Education at the University of Washington in Seattle. She specializes in the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases, offering comprehensive care for conditions such as retinal detachment, ocular trauma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.
Her clinical practice focuses on providing individualized treatment using advanced retinal imaging and surgical techniques. Dr. Olmos is dedicated to ophthalmic education and currently serves as the Retina Fellowship Program Director. Her research interests include artificial vision via retinal prostheses, novel therapies for inherited retinal degenerations, and improving outcomes for diabetic retinopathy.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Olmos completed her undergraduate degree at Harvard University, medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, and an MBA at Rice University. She trained in ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, followed by a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. She has received awards including the Lifetime Mentorship Award from the Vit-Buckle Society and has published extensively on retinal diseases.
