About Me
Dr. L. Dean Flanders is a cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon at Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He completed fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of California, San Diego and focuses on vision-restoring procedures that reduce dependence on glasses and contacts. Patients turn to Dr. Flanders for refractive cataract surgery with advanced IOL options and for laser vision correction tailored to lifestyle and goals.
His clinical interests include LASIK and PRK, implantable collamer lenses, and the diagnosis and treatment of corneal disease using both full- and partial-thickness transplantation (DMEK, DSAEK, PKP, DALK). Dr. Flanders’ background includes a BS from Brigham Young University, an MD from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, an internal medicine internship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and ophthalmology residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he served as chief resident.
