About Me
Dr. K. Matthew McKay is a vitreoretinal surgeon and uveitis specialist at Mass Eye and Ear and an instructor in ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He cares for patients with inflammatory eye disease and a wide range of medical and surgical retina conditions, providing individualized plans that emphasize vision preservation and comfort.
Dr. McKay is interested in caring for patients with rare and complex ophthalmic disorders and received specialized training in treating ocular inflammatory diseases (uveitis) of the front and back of the eye. Surgically, he is interested in caring for patients with retinal detachments, including complex detachments related to diabetic retinopathy and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. Dr. McKay also specializes in surgical management of epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and cataracts. Dr. McKay is actively involved in clinical research and training ophthalmology residents and fellows.
