About Me
Dr. Joel Pakett is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in corneal and refractive surgery. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pennsylvania State University and received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Dr. Pakett completed his medical internship at Pennsylvania Hospital, part of the University of Pennsylvania healthcare system, followed by his ophthalmology residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, where he served as Chief Resident. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Pakett provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on advanced surgical techniques. He specializes in cataract surgery, utilizing emerging technologies such as femtosecond laser, toric intraocular lenses for astigmatism correction, multifocal intraocular lenses, and Light Adjustable Lenses. He also performs refractive surgery procedures including PRK and LASIK vision correction with state-of-the-art laser technologies. Additionally, Dr. Pakett treats dry eye syndrome, corneal ectatic conditions like keratoconus through corneal cross-linking, and performs pterygium surgery.
Dr. Pakett is an active member of professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the New England Ophthalmological Society, and Mass Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He is conversational in Spanish, allowing him to connect with a broader range of patients. He practices at Microsurgical Eye Consultants in Peabody, Massachusetts.
