About Me

Dr. James Brooks is a fellowship-trained cornea and anterior segment specialist who has been serving the Columbus community since 1994. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine, where he was selected as Chief Resident, and then pursued additional fellowship training in Australia. He is recognized as the most experienced anterior segment surgeon in the region, receiving referrals from across the area.

Dr. Brooks is actively involved in leading professional organizations, having served as President of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the Muscogee County Medical Society. His clinical practice focuses on diseases and surgery of the cornea, including corneal transplantation, cataract and advanced lens implant surgery, LASIK/PRK, and managing corneal infections and contact lens complications.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Brooks is deeply committed to community service. He volunteers on the board of Mercy Med Clinic and has been involved with United Way, Young Life, and international mission trips. He and his family are long-time residents of Columbus and are active members of Mid Tree Church.
