About Me

Dr. Jake McMillin is an ophthalmic surgeon and corneal specialist at Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor and Haun in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born and raised in Kingsport, he was inspired by his father, an optometrist, to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. McMillin combines his passion for fixing things with cutting-edge technology to restore vision, believing that ophthalmology offers a unique opportunity to reverse disease and injury.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, graduating summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina, and his medical degree, magna cum laude, from the same university. He completed an ophthalmology residency at the Storm Eye Institute, where he served as chief resident, and a fellowship in cornea, refractive and anterior segment surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. McMillin values the collaborative environment at his practice, where he can consult with colleagues across subspecialties to provide comprehensive care.

A large part of his practice is general ophthalmology, but he specializes in corneal disease and surgery, including corneal transplants and laser refractive procedures. He is excited about advancements in minimally invasive corneal transplantation and the potential for regenerative treatments. Dr. McMillin is committed to providing the most advanced surgical options and takes great satisfaction in giving patients back their vision.
