Dr. George Jiao

Dr. George Jiao is a physician with advanced training in diseases of the retina and vitreous. He cares for patients with sudden problems such as retinal tears and detachments as well as chronic conditions like age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Patients appreciate his steady manner, clear explanations of imaging, and step-by-step guidance on treatments ranging from office-based injections and lasers to surgery.

Dr. Jiao graduated cum laude from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Honors Society. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York - Upstate Medical University and completed a transitional year at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. His ophthalmology residency was at the Northwell Health Eye Institute, where he served as Chief Resident. He joined Retina Consultants of Minnesota in 2024 to complete a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery. Dr. Jiao is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, focusing on protecting and restoring sight with up-to-date diagnostics and thoughtful follow-up.
