About Me
Dr. Gawain Dyer is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon at San Antonio Eye Center, specializing in medical and surgical care for conditions affecting the retina and vitreous. He is trained to manage and perform surgery for a wide range of vitreoretinal diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, retinal detachments, and retinoblastoma. Dr. Dyer takes a patient-centered approach, leveraging the latest advancements in retinal surgery to help preserve and restore vision.
Dr. Dyer completed his vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Missouri Kansas City/Sabates Eye Centers, following an ophthalmology residency at Howard University and an internal medicine internship at Nassau University Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University with a BS in psychology and chemistry.
Actively involved in the professional community, Dr. Dyer is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the National Medical Association. He remains engaged in clinical research, having served as a sub-investigator in several clinical trials and authored multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals.
