About Me
Dr. Frank A. Bucci, Jr. is an internationally recognized expert in cataract and refractive surgery. A pioneer in the Wyoming Valley, he performed the first RK, AK, PRK, and LASIK procedures in the region and has completed more than 9,000 refractive surgeries and 28,000 other microsurgical eye procedures. He founded the Bucci Cataract & Laser Vision Institute in 1998, where he remains the sole surgeon, and established the state-of-the-art Angelina Theresa Bucci Eye Surgery Center in 2000, which is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Medicare certified, and accredited by the AAAHC.
Dr. Bucci is a leading researcher and educator with over 75 peer-reviewed publications and has delivered hundreds of invited presentations at major ophthalmic meetings worldwide. He was the first surgeon in North America and Europe to demonstrate that combining different multifocal lens implants could achieve high levels of spectacle independence and patient satisfaction. Known for his work with advanced lens technology, Dr. Bucci was the first U.S. surgeon to implant the FDA-approved Tecnis Multifocal lens and is the top multifocal surgeon in Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
