About Me
Eric J. Kim, MD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Mayo Clinic who cares for children with complex corneal, cataract, and glaucoma conditions, as well as patients of all ages with strabismus. He offers both medical and surgical treatments tailored to growing eyes and developing visual systems, and coordinates closely with families to make care plans that fit school, sports, and daily life. His operative focus includes pediatric cataract and glaucoma surgery, corneal cross-linking for keratoconus, corneal transplantation when needed, and strabismus surgery for children and adults.
Dr. Kim serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Before joining the pediatric ophthalmology team at Mayo Clinic, he completed rigorous training in ophthalmology and advanced work in pediatric anterior segment surgery. Patients appreciate his clear explanations, calm approach in the clinic and operating room, and commitment to evidence-based care backed by ongoing academic scholarship.
