About Me
Elyse J. McGlumphy, MD, is a glaucoma specialist whose practice spans medical, laser and incisional glaucoma care as well as cataract surgery for patients with co-existing disease. She completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in glaucoma at the Wilmer Eye Institute. After fellowship, Dr. McGlumphy joined the Wilmer faculty as an assistant professor before returning to community practice.
Her clinical interests include newer surgical technologies and long-term outcomes in glaucoma. She has an active research portfolio with a focus on home intraocular pressure monitoring (iCare) and diurnal IOP patterns, and she has delivered national and international lectures. With a clear, measured style, she helps patients understand the spectrum of options—from drops and laser to MIGS and filtering surgery—so treatment can be tailored to disease stage and lifestyle.
