About Me
Dr. Elaine Binkley is an ophthalmologist with University of Iowa Physicians who specializes in retina and vitreous care, including the diagnosis and treatment of complex retinal disease and eye tumors. She cares for patients with conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, retinal detachment, and ocular cancers, and offers advanced surgical options to help protect and restore vision.
Dr. Binkley is especially passionate about how detailed retinal examinations and modern imaging can pinpoint problems in a tissue less than a millimeter thick—and how today’s surgical techniques can meaningfully improve a patient’s vision and quality of life. Her training includes ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, followed by specialized fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery and retina research at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, as well as ocular oncology consulting experience at Cleveland Clinic.
