About Me
Dr. Elahhe Afkhamnejad (often called "Dr. A") is a retina-focused ophthalmologist who cares for adults with medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. Originally from Los Angeles, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science at Occidental College and completed medical school at Wake Forest School of Medicine. She then finished residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she refined her skills in diagnosing and treating complex retinal problems. Patients describe her as warm, thorough, and attentive to the details that matter for preserving sight.
At Associated Retina Consultants in the Phoenix area, Dr. Afkhamnejad provides evidence-based care tailored to each person’s goals and daily life. She enjoys educating patients about their condition and treatment plan, whether that means in-office injections for macular degeneration, laser procedures, or surgery for retinal tears and detachment. Outside the clinic, she relaxes by reading novels and visiting butterfly gardens, and she’s excited to explore everything the Valley has to offer.
