Dr. Mahmood El-Gasim is a board-certified retina specialist who diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of retinal and vitreous disease. Dr. El-Gasim graduated magna cum laude from Duke University and earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in retina and uveitis at London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has received recognition for clinical excellence and research contributions.

Dr. Kimberly Tran, MD is a vitreoretinal surgeon who treats the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions. She joined Associated Retina Consultants in 2024 and brings extensive experience caring for patients with retinal detachments, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and complex vitreoretinal disease. Her philosophy centers on education and shared decision-making so each person understands their diagnosis and options. Dr. Tran completed both her ophthalmology residency and surgical retina fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She has practiced in academic and private settings, taught trainees as clinical faculty, and authored research in nationally and internationally recognized ophthalmology journals. Dr. Tran is board-certified in ophthalmology and is an active member of major retina and ophthalmology societies.

Dr. Anthony Joseph is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon dedicated to personalized, compassionate care. He treats the full spectrum of medical and surgical retinal disease—from diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration to retinal tears and complex detachments—using advanced imaging, precision laser, anti-VEGF therapies, and microsurgical techniques tailored to each patient.Dr. Joseph studied economics and biology at Stanford University, earned his medical degree at Duke University, and completed a master’s in information science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He finished an internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, an ophthalmology residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute/UCLA, and vitreoretinal fellowship training at the New England Eye Center/Tufts Medical Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. He has cared for patients in Southern Arizona since 2021 and welcomes collaborative referrals for both urgent and ongoing retinal conditions.
