About Me
Dr. Dagmara Danek is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for the full range of medical and surgical retina conditions. She brings a warm, collaborative style to visits and explains options in clear, practical terms. With training across internal medicine and ophthalmology, she considers the whole person—how systemic health and daily life intersect with eye disease—so treatment plans feel realistic and personal.
Her interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal tears and detachments, and the management of complications after cataract surgery. Dr. Danek earned her DO at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Cook County Health/Retina Associates in Chicago. She enjoys teaching as a clinical instructor and provides care in English, Spanish, and Polish, helping patients and families feel understood at every step.
