About Me
Dr. Cynthia Xin Ya Qian is an ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon who has been serving patients at the University of Montreal since 2015. She specializes in complex retinal conditions and is an expert in retinal dystrophy, including the surgical implantation of retinal chips and prostheses. Her surgical expertise helps patients with advanced retinal diseases regain or preserve vision.
As the Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory and the Pediatric Retina Service, Dr. Qian provides comprehensive care for both adults and children. She focuses on diagnosing and treating pediatric retinal disorders and uses advanced electrophysiological testing to assess retinal function. Patients can expect a thorough and compassionate approach to managing retinal diseases.
Dr. Qian completed her medical training at McGill University and her ophthalmology residency at the University of Montreal, where she served as chief resident. She further honed her skills through fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery at Harvard Medical School and in retinal dystrophy and ocular genetics at the University of Michigan. She is actively involved in the Canadian Retina Society and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, contributing to advancements in retinal care.
