Dr. Cristan Arena

Dr. Cristan Arena is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts. She completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of South Florida, where she gained extensive experience in the latest treatments and surgical techniques for glaucoma. Dr. Arena is skilled in a wide range of procedures, including traditional trabeculectomy and laser surgeries as well as advanced micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). She was among the first surgeons in the nation to implant the Ahmed Clear Path tube shunt, an innovative device for glaucoma drainage.

In addition to her glaucoma expertise, Dr. Arena is an accomplished cataract surgeon who handles both routine and complex cases. She places a strong emphasis on patient communication and trust, taking time to listen to each patient's concerns and explain treatment options clearly. Her research contributions include a chapter on laser peripheral iridoplasty in the authoritative Chandler & Grant’s Glaucoma textbook, and she has participated in clinical studies on selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT).
