About Me
Dr. Courtney Konkel is passionate about restoring vision through innovative technologies and compassionate, patient-centered eye care. She received her medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine and was selected by the United States Air Force for the Health Professions Scholarship Program. Dr. Konkel completed her internship in General Surgery and residency in Ophthalmology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, then served as Chief of Ophthalmology at MacDill Air Force Base, where she became a military leader in refractive cataract surgery.
Dr. Konkel is experienced in bladeless laser cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, ocular surface disease including pterygium removal, and blepharoplasty. She treats comprehensive ophthalmic needs including dry eye disease, cataracts, glaucoma, and visually significant dermatochalasis.
As a recent transplant to Sarasota, Dr. Konkel is excited to engage with the local community, focusing on improving parks and developing green initiatives to sustain Southwest Florida's natural beauty. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cycling, and bird watching with her husband and three children.
