Dr. Courtney Konkel

Dr. Courtney Konkel is an ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon with a passion for restoring vision using innovative technologies and compassionate, patient-centered eye care. She is experienced in bladeless laser cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, ocular surface disease including pterygium removal, and blepharoplasty, and provides longitudinal care for dry eye disease, cataracts, glaucoma, and visually significant dermatochalasis.

Dr. Konkel received her medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine and was selected by the United States Air Force for the Health Professions Scholarship Program. She completed an internship in General Surgery followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. After residency, she served as Chief of Ophthalmology at MacDill Air Force Base, where she became a military leader in refractive cataract surgery and was recognized as a Top 1% Physician in the Department of Defense as a "Best of the Best" Surgeon.

Now practicing in Sarasota, Dr. Konkel is excited to involve herself in the local community, with interests in improving parks and developing green initiatives. She is married with three children and enjoys gardening, cycling, and bird watching.
