Dr. Cindy Cai

Bo Wang, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of ophthalmology with the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. He specializes in pediatric ophthalmology with particular interest in pediatric glaucoma and cataract, strabismus, and retinopathy of prematurity. Dr. Wang earned his MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the Duke Eye Center. Dr. Wang blends compassionate, child-friendly care with evidence-based decision-making and advanced imaging. His research leverages optical coherence tomography to study outflow pathway changes that contribute to pediatric glaucoma, with the goal of improving diagnosis and therapy. Dr. Luke Chang is a glaucoma and cataract surgeon who focuses on preserving sight with the least disruption to patients' lives. He offers the full spectrum of modern glaucoma care—from medications and laser to minimally invasive and traditional surgeries—and tailors cataract surgery to each person's visual goals. Dr. Chang earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and a glaucoma fellowship at UT Southwestern. Dr. Ishrat Ahmed is a vitreoretinal surgeon at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. She treats the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, retinal tears, and retinal detachment. With a background in neuroscience and an interest in inherited retinal diseases, she pairs state-of-the-art imaging with clear, step-by-step guidance so patients know what to expect at every visit and after surgery. Dr. Ahmed completed ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute and a retina fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital after earning her combined MD/PhD at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She offers office-based treatments such as anti-VEGF injections and laser as well as surgery for macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and complex detachments. Her goal is straightforward: protect sight with the safest, most effective therapy and thoughtful follow-up tailored to each patient’s life.
