About Me

Dr. Christine Coward is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute, where she provides comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract services. She enjoys medically and surgically treating a full range of adult eye conditions and has a special interest in cataract surgery, with expertise in managing cataracts in patients who also have glaucoma.

Dr. Coward earned her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She then completed an ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College and pursued a glaucoma fellowship at Southern California Glaucoma Consultants. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Coward is passionate about education and health care equity. She actively participates in teaching ophthalmology residents and medical students, and works with minority high-school aged students to spark their interest in medical and science careers, aiming to increase representation in these fields.
