Meet Dr. Karen Allison

Dr. Allison is an ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and related conditions. She also performs complex cataract surgery. Dr. Allison takes a team-based approach to care, working closely with eye care providers and primary care physicians to preserve patient vision. Her treatment offerings include medical glaucoma therapy, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, trabeculectomy, canal procedures, laser procedures, and drainage valve procedures.

Dr. Allison is actively involved in glaucoma clinical trials and is committed to promoting minority participation in medical careers and improving access to eye care for underserved populations. She completed a glaucoma fellowship at Ochsner Medical Institutions and has extensive experience in both private practice and academic medicine, currently practicing at the Flaum Eye Institute.
