Dr. Charles Whisler

Charles Whisler, MD, joined Vantage Eye in April 2012. Dr. Whisler is a Monterey native who came home to help care for those in the community where he was raised. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in marine biology and returned to Monterey to explore teaching, as his parents taught in the district for over 25 years.

While volunteering at CHOMP and at a Seaside medical clinic, he developed an interest in medicine and attended the University of Michigan to earn his medical degree. After completing an internship in Portland, Oregon, he attended the University of Minnesota for an Ophthalmology residency. He graduated with the Harry Plotke award, designating the resident who best exemplifies care and compassion for patients.

Dr. Whisler has also been awarded a Golden Pinecone as the best Ophthalmologist from The Carmel Pinecone newspaper for 2011 and 2022. Dr. Whisler is an expert cataract eye surgeon at Vantage Eye Center focused on vision restoration.
