About Me
Martha Ryan, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Vantage Eye Center who focuses on cataract and anterior segment surgery delivered with clear communication and a calm, patient-first approach. A Bay Area native, she earned her medical degree at Emory University and completed ophthalmology residency at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, where she deepened her interest in sight-restoring procedures and global eye care. Her practice includes advanced techniques such as manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS) and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), tailored to each patient’s goals.
Before medical training, Dr. Ryan studied chemical engineering with a biomedical engineering minor at Carnegie Mellon University and served in AmeriCorps. She has presented research nationally and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize surgical outcomes. Outside the clinic, she stays active on the Central Coast with hiking and time outdoors with family. Patients appreciate her thoughtful pre- and postoperative counseling and her commitment to using proven, technology-enabled methods to help them see clearly and comfortably.
