About Me
Dr. Brian Francis is a Professor of Ophthalmology and the Medical Director of Doheny Eye Center UCLA in Fountain Valley. He is a leading expert in glaucoma, specializing in minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS), advanced diagnostic technologies, and the comprehensive surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts.
Dr. Francis pioneered the first combined cataract and MIGS surgery in 2006 and continues to innovate in glaucoma care, including procedures such as canaloplasty, trabecular microbypass stents, and suprachoroidal stenting. He utilizes advanced diagnostic tools like OCT and visual field testing to tailor treatments. As Director of Glaucoma Services and Fellowship Director at Doheny-UCLA, he trains ophthalmologists worldwide in cutting-edge surgical techniques.
Recognized with multiple awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Francis has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications and co-edited the textbook on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. He is committed to community outreach, providing free glaucoma care in Mexico and supporting underserved communities through UCLA initiatives.
