About Me
Dr. Andrew Strand is a vitreoretinal surgeon who treats complex diseases of the retina and vitreous with both medical and surgical approaches. His clinical work includes management of diabetic eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, vascular occlusive disease, and ocular inflammation. When surgery is needed, he performs procedures such as retinal detachment repair, epimacular membrane surgery, macular hole surgery, and surgery for visually significant floaters.
Dr. Strand completed undergraduate training in nutrition science at the University of Minnesota and later earned a master’s degree in nutrition science and biostatistics. He attended Des Moines University for medical school, completed his ophthalmology residency at Ohio University–Doctors Hospital, and pursued a two-year surgical retina fellowship at the Retina Institute of California in Los Angeles. He has also participated as a clinical investigator in research trials involving diabetic macular edema and retinal vein occlusion.
