About Me

Dr. Carey is a neuro-ophthalmologist and retina specialist who cares for patients with complex conditions affecting the optic nerve, visual pathways, and retina. He works with patients experiencing vision changes from inflammatory, ischemic, hereditary, and medication-related eye disease, and he partners with patients to build a clear, step-by-step care plan. His clinical expertise includes neuro-ophthalmic disorders such as optic neuritis, papillitis related to uveitis, and ischemic or hereditary optic neuropathies. He also treats retinal disease, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, toxic retinopathies, and inherited retinal disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa. Dr. Carey’s interests also include evaluating intravitreal medications, outcomes for choroidal neovascularization treatments, and the use of advanced imaging to better diagnose and understand optic nerve and retinal disease.
