About Me
Dr. Amanda Henderson is a neuro-ophthalmologist at the Wilmer Eye Institute and serves as Chief of the Wilmer Neuro-Ophthalmology Division. She evaluates vision problems that may be related to the optic nerve, brain, or nervous system and works with patients to understand what may be driving sudden or progressive visual changes.
Her clinical and research interests focus on optic neuropathies—especially non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)—and on using high-value, data-driven approaches to answer neuro-ophthalmic questions. Patients can expect clear explanations, thoughtful recommendations, and coordination with other specialists when needed.
Dr. Henderson earned her M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency training at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, and completed a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at University of Miami Jackson Health.
