About Me
Dr. Ana Alzaga Fernandez is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine. She specializes in cornea, refractive, and cataract surgery, providing comprehensive eye care for adults and children. Her expertise includes managing corneal diseases, dry eye syndrome, cataracts, and performing laser vision correction procedures.
She completed her medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Mexico, where she was honored as the most outstanding student. Dr. Alzaga Fernandez underwent extensive training, including an internal medicine internship, ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital where she served as chief resident, and a fellowship in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Fluent in Spanish, Italian, and French, she effectively communicates with patients from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Alzaga Fernandez is dedicated to patient-centered care, focusing on conditions such as corneal and anterior segment disorders, ocular surface diseases, and refractive errors.
