Dr. Kashani is a retina specialist and surgeon at the Wilmer Eye Institute, treating patients at its East Baltimore and Columbia locations. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, age-related macular degeneration, epiretinal membranes, and retinal detachments.
As an NIH-funded clinician-scientist, Dr. Kashani uses advanced, noninvasive imaging methods like optical coherence tomography angiography to detect the earliest changes in retinal capillaries. His research focuses on retinal vascular diseases and their connection to vascular cognitive impairment and dementia. Dr. Kashani brings a research-informed approach to patient care, emphasizing early detection and personalized treatment planning.
