Dr. Akshay Mentreddy

Dr. Akshay R. Mentreddy is an ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship training in both uveitis/ocular immunology and vitreoretinal disease. He cares for adults with inflammatory eye disease and complex retinal disorders, combining meticulous examinations with imaging-guided decision making. His approach emphasizes education and shared decisions so every patient understands the diagnosis, treatment choices, and expected recovery.

Dr. Mentreddy earned his DO from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed internship and ophthalmology residency at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. He then pursued a uveitis/retina and ocular immunology fellowship at the University of California, followed by a vitreoretinal fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He partners closely with referring providers and uses modern medical, laser, and surgical therapies to protect and restore sight for conditions ranging from uveitis to retinal detachment.
