Dr. Aaron Fairbanks

Kevin Jackson, MD, is an ophthalmologist at Duke Eye Center whose practice focuses on the cornea, cataract, and anterior segment. He partners closely with each person to understand their visual goals and design clear, practical plans to reach them. Clinically, he offers the full spectrum of corneal transplantation — from full-thickness to partial-thickness techniques — and performs traditional, premium, and laser-assisted cataract surgery using modern lens options. He also provides laser vision correction, including LASIK and PRK, and manages complex disorders of the cornea, lens, and ocular surface. As a fellowship-trained cornea specialist, Dr. Jackson is committed to evidence-based, thoughtful care and to helping patients make informed choices. He is equally comfortable discussing nonsurgical therapies and moving forward with surgery when the timing is right. His training includes medical school at the Perelman School of Medicine, ophthalmology residency at Duke Eye Center, advanced cornea fellowship at Duke, and an innovation fellowship at Stanford’s Byers Eye Institute. Dr. Katherine Peters is a board-certified anterior segment and cornea specialist who helps patients see and feel better with individualized surgical and nonsurgical options. Her clinical interests include cataract surgery, complex anterior segment reconstruction, corneal transplantation, and laser vision correction. Patients value her warm bedside manner and her emphasis on clear expectations, from pre-operative planning through recovery and long-term maintenance. A Tennessee native, Dr. Peters completed her undergraduate and medical training at Vanderbilt University, followed by a transitional year at the University of Tennessee, ophthalmology residency at Duke Eye Center where she served as Chief Resident, and an anterior segment/cornea fellowship at Vance Thompson Vision. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented at national meetings. Dr. Peters blends advanced surgical skill with patient education to match technology—such as modern corneal grafts and refractive options—to each person’s visual goals.

Dr. Daniel J. Olson is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina–vitreous subspecialist who provides comprehensive eye care and advanced treatment for diseases of the retina and vitreous. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served as chief resident. He then pursued a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Olson offers patient-centered care focused on the medical and surgical management of retinal disease, including in-office laser procedures and intravitreal injections when appropriate. He partners closely with patients to explain diagnoses, discuss options in plain language, and tailor care plans to protect and preserve vision. In August 2023 he joined Morganton Eye Physicians, where he brings a careful, compassionate approach to people across Western North Carolina. His goal is to deliver thoughtful guidance and excellent outcomes so patients feel confident at every step of their care.
