About Me
Dr. Yvonne Chu is an ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma in adults. She provides care at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston. Dr. Chu has expertise in cataract surgery combined with glaucoma interventions, including minimally invasive procedures such as Hydrus microstent, iStent trabecular bypass, Xen gel implants, and ab-interno goniotomy. She also treats conditions like neovascular glaucoma, trauma-related glaucoma, and ocular hypertension.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Chu serves as Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute and Baylor College of Medicine. She has a strong commitment to teaching and has been recognized with the Dan B. Jones Teaching Award for excellence in resident education. Dr. Chu previously held leadership roles as Chief of Ophthalmology at Ben Taub Hospital and Medical Director of Eye Care Services at Harris Health System.
