About Me
Dr. W. Walker Motley is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He believes that treating a young child's vision requires a partnership between the doctor and the family, and he presents all available treatment options so parents and caregivers can participate in decisions.
Dr. Motley primarily treats children under seven years old for conditions that threaten vision development, including amblyopia, strabismus (crossed or misaligned eyes), double vision, pediatric cataracts, optic pathway gliomas, and capillary hemangiomas. He also consults with adults who have eye misalignment or oculomotor conditions. His goal is to minimize the risk of vision loss and help patients transition to community eye care when appropriate.
Before medical school, Dr. Motley earned degrees in biomedical engineering, and he applies engineering concepts to his ophthalmology practice. His research focuses on understanding how optic pathway obstructions affect visual function and improving education for future pediatric ophthalmologists.
