About Me
Dr. Virginia Miraldi Utz is a pediatric ophthalmologist and professor at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care for children, with special expertise in genetic eye disorders and uveitis (eye inflammation). Her commitment to pediatric ophthalmology was inspired by early experiences mentoring a child with visual impairment and observing the challenges children face with chronic autoimmune and genetic eye conditions.
Dr. Miraldi Utz seeks to create a partnership of mutual respect with families, taking time to fully explain diagnoses and next steps. She works collaboratively with specialists in rheumatology, genetics, hematology/oncology, and neurology to manage patients with complicated conditions involving the eye. In 2012, she helped establish the Eye Genetics Clinic, which provides families with same-day, multidisciplinary appointments to improve communication and deliver comprehensive care plans.
She has been named to the Best Doctors in America list and the Top Doctors list in Cincinnati Magazine since 2016. Dr. Miraldi Utz also serves on the editorial board for the Ophthalmic Genetics Journal and holds leadership roles in the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
