About Me
Viral V. Juthani, MD, serves as the Director of Hutchinson Campus Ophthalmology and an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Montefiore-Einstein. His clinical expertise is centered on cornea and external diseases, including conditions like keratoconus and Fuchs dystrophy, as well as performing refractive surgery, cataract surgery with advanced lens options, corneal transplants, and managing ocular surface diseases.
Dr. Juthani completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003 and earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in 2007. He then undertook a yearlong internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at New York University, and specialized through fellowships in cornea and external diseases at Wills Eye Hospital and in cornea and refractive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
His research interests include lamellar corneal transplantation and improving clinical training for resident physicians. He contributes to the medical community as a member of the Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration's medical advisory board, an associate editor for BMC Ophthalmology, and a reviewer for several ophthalmic journals. Dr. Juthani is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Cornea Society.
