About Me
Dr. Richard P. Gibralter is an attending physician specializing in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Montefiore Einstein, where he also serves as Director of Medical Student Education for Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences and an Associate Professor. With decades of experience, he diagnoses and treats complex diseases of the anterior segment, including corneal diseases, cataract, and immune-mediated diseases of the ocular surface. He previously founded and co-directed Cataract and Corneal Associates in Manhattan, where he practiced for nearly 40 years.
Dr. Gibralter's research focuses on immune-mediated corneal diseases and surgical techniques of the anterior segment. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals, case reports, and lectures. A Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is actively involved in ophthalmic education, training residents and fellows at prestigious programs.
