About Me
Dr. John Kim is a board-certified ophthalmologist who provides care for a range of eye conditions, with a particular focus on cornea and external diseases. He treats patients at multiple SightMD locations in New York, offering services including laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and corneal transplants. Dr. Kim's approach to care is patient-centered, treating each individual with the attention and respect he would offer a family member.
Dr. Kim earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate and completed his ophthalmology residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital – Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then pursued a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he gained advanced skills in diagnosing and managing complex corneal conditions. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kim serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has held leadership roles in residency education.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Kim volunteers with community health initiatives, including the Annual Lion's Club and the Korean Medical Society health fair, reflecting his commitment to accessible eye care. He continues to stay current with advances in ophthalmology to provide his patients with effective treatment options.
