Dr. Vaishnavi Balendiran

Dr. Kisha Piggott is a retina specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine. She provides medical and surgical care for conditions that affect the retina and vitreous, with a focus on preserving vision and helping patients understand their treatment options. She completed residency training in ophthalmology at Washington University School of Medicine and a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery. She earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and also completed a PhD in Immunology at Emory University. Dr. Piggott treats diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular holes and macular pucker, and retinal injuries from ocular trauma. She also has a special focus in ocular oncology, including uveal melanoma. Her research interests include uveal melanoma, bringing scientific insight to patient care.

Dr. Ollya V. Fromal is a board-certified retina specialist dedicated to protecting and restoring sight for patients with medical and surgical retinal disease. She offers thoughtful, easy-to-understand guidance and partners closely with each patient to tailor a plan—whether that means in-office injections, laser treatments, or advanced retinal surgery. Patients appreciate her calm, thorough style and her commitment to answering questions so they feel prepared every step of the way. Dr. Fromal completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, ophthalmology residency at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta. At The Retina Institute, she manages complex problems ranging from macular disorders to traumatic injuries and challenging lens complications. Her goal is to deliver precise, modern care while keeping the experience personal and accessible for patients and their families.

Dr. Avinash V. Honasoge, MD, PhD is a vitreoretinal surgeon who treats the full range of medical and surgical retina conditions. His clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal vascular diseases, uveitis, and managing dislocated intraocular lenses. He combines meticulous technique with evidence-based decision-making to preserve and restore vision whenever possible. Dr. Honasoge completed a transitional year in St. Louis, ophthalmology residency at Washington University, and a two-year fellowship in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous at The Retina Institute. He earned both his medical degree and a graduate research degree in Birmingham. In the clinic and operating room, he emphasizes clear education, thoughtful counseling on risks and benefits, and close follow-up tailored to each patient’s diagnosis and goals.
