About Me
Dr. Tom Obertynski is an ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of complex glaucoma and complex cataract surgery. He provides advanced glaucoma surgical care, including laser treatments, micro invasive procedures (MIGS), and traditional surgeries for refractory cases. For cataracts, he offers laser assisted cataract surgery and custom lens solutions with advanced technology intraocular lenses to restore vision at near and far distances.
Dr. Obertynski completed his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit and remained there for subspecialty training in glaucoma and advanced cataract surgery. He serves as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and is the Co-Director of the Glaucoma department at The Beaumont Eye Institute. His dedication to teaching earned him the Raymond R. Margherio, MD Teaching Award as Teacher of the Year from the Beaumont Eye Institute residents.
He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Glaucoma Society. Dr. Obertynski focuses on delivering personalized, cutting-edge care for patients with glaucoma and cataracts.
