About Me
Dr. Sunil Bellur is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in medical retina and uveitis at Washington Eye Institute. He diagnoses and treats complex retinal and inflammatory eye diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular disorders, and infectious and autoimmune uveitis. Dr. Bellur earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Houston Medical School, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed ophthalmology residency at George Washington University, served as Chief Resident, and received the Zimmerman Award for excellence in patient and surgical care. He then completed a combined Medical Retina and Uveitis fellowship at the National Eye Institute (NIH) in Bethesda.
