About Me

Dr. Ethan K. Sobol is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon with The Retina Group of Washington and an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He cares for adults and children with medical and surgical retinal conditions, and is known for a calm, clear style of communication that helps patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and what to expect before and after surgery. In clinic and the OR, he blends meticulous technique with evidence-based decision-making, and he participates in clinical trials that bring the latest therapies to patients in the Mid-Atlantic. Dr. Sobol completed ophthalmology residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a transitional year at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and a two-year vitreoretinal diseases and surgery fellowship at Emory University. He sees patients in RGW's Greenbelt and Chevy Chase offices and enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows as part of his academic role.
