About Me
Dr. Stuart K. Burgess is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute, where he serves as Director of Clinical Research. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal, macular, and vitreal diseases. Dr. Burgess treats a wide range of conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, uveitis, ocular tumors, and ocular trauma. He was among the first retinal specialists to research and offer advanced anti-VEGF treatments for macular degeneration and has been involved in clinical trials that led to the approval of sustained-delivery therapies. He also provides treatment for geographic atrophy with newer therapies.
Dr. Burgess is dedicated to preserving and restoring vision through compassionate, patient-centered care. His research contributions have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national ophthalmic meetings. He has been a principal investigator in numerous retinal disease studies and continues to advance the field through ongoing clinical research.
