About Me
Dr. Stephen McConnell is a board-certified ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care for patients in Georgia. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and completed his medical training at Mercer University in Savannah. Dr. McConnell then pursued an ophthalmology residency at Temple University in Philadelphia, followed by a year of scientific research at the Medical College of Georgia. He has also participated in medical missions in Honduras and Cambodia, reflecting his commitment to global eye health.
Dr. McConnell treats a wide range of eye conditions, with a particular interest in oculoplastic surgery and cataract surgery. He specializes in procedures such as blepharoplasty to correct droopy eyelids, ptosis repair, and refractive surgery. His practice also focuses on managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and performing thorough medical eye exams. Dr. McConnell is dedicated to placing his patients' interests first, ensuring they receive personalized and compassionate care.
Outside of his practice, Dr. McConnell is an avid athlete who has run numerous marathons and completed two Ironman triathlons. He is married to Dr. Whitney McConnell, a surgical podiatrist, and they have two children. The family enjoys traveling together when time allows.
