His medical career began with a research fellowship focused on developing treatments for African Sleeping Sickness, which solidified his passion for medicine. He pursued ophthalmology after recognizing its profound impact on reversing blindness, particularly through cataract surgery.

Dr. Hunt completed his residency at the University of Florida Health – Jacksonville, where he excelled as chief resident and was honored with the Outstanding Resident Education Award for his teaching.
