Dr. Stephen Huddleston is a vitreoretinal surgeon and retina specialist at Charles Retina Institute in Germantown, Tennessee. He has performed over 4,000 retinal surgeries and currently performs more than 600 vitreoretinal procedures each year, ranking among the top retinal surgeons in the United States. Dr. Huddleston is deeply involved in advancing retinal care through clinical trials, having served as a principal investigator for the development of several leading retinal treatments, including Eylea, Lucentis, Vabysmo, and Susvimo.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Huddleston directs the Retinopathy of Prematurity service at Charles Retina, overseeing the busiest ROP service in the country and preventing vision loss in premature infants across six neonatal intensive care units. He also provides surgical care for pediatric cancer patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Dr. Huddleston is the co-author of the authoritative textbook Vitreous Microsurgery and holds leadership roles as President, Fellowship Director, and Director of Clinical Research at Charles Retina Institute.
