Dr. Shilpa Desai

Dr. Shilpa Desai is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous. She provides comprehensive medical and surgical retina care, focusing on conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and retinal detachments. Dr. Desai is dedicated to offering advanced treatments to preserve and restore vision for her patients.

Dr. Desai completed her medical degree at Harvard Medical School and then trained in ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco. She further subspecialized with a vitreoretinal fellowship at the New England Eye Center (NEEC) at Tufts Medical Center. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine and is the director of Medical Student Education at NEEC. Her clinical practice is complemented by active research in retinopathy of prematurity and post-operative inflammation.
